At his trial the Prisoner called for a
character witness, that of Roland Walter Dutton. So what was it the Prisoner
expected Dutton to say, seeing as Dutton was better fitted, than the Prisoner,
to say the things that needed to be said. Was he expected to speak on behalf of
the Prisoner, to provide a character witness, or simply to speak out against
the character of The Village?
