Who Is Number One?

    Well that's easy, because the answer can be found in the opening dialogue between the Prisoner and Number Two in the opening sequence......."Who is Number One?" "You are Number Six." Depending on how you place the emphasis of course.
    It is said that Number One is the alter ego of Number Six, that they are one and the same. Well surely that's impossible, because you cannot meet yourself like the two alter egos did during Fall Out. I like to think that the meeting of Number Six and Number One was the last throw of the dice by those in charge of the village, to try and break Number Six by facing him with himself. That would make Number One Curtis once of The Schizoid Man. I know, I know, Curtis was supposed to have died, suffocated to death by the village guardian. But we only have Number Six's word for that, and he may have been mistaken.
    As for Number One's mental state, well perhaps having been attacked by the village guardian, half suffocated to death, and then kept locked up in security since his ordeal in The Schizoid Man, tilted his brain!
