Pick Up Thy Saddle And Walk!

It was suggested many, many years ago by certain fans of the Prisoner, that as the Prisoner, as the stranger, in the episode Living In Harmony was carrying his saddle, that this was a allegory of Christ carrying the cross to his crucifixtion. Fans do read all kinds of things into the series, and misinterpret ordinary occurrances, in making a mountain out of a mole hill, as is the case of the stranger carrying his saddle.
Because that is all the ex-Sheriff is doing. He handed in both his badge and his gun, and perhaps his horse went with the job as well. But not the man's saddle it seems. Because no matter what, a man in the American Wild West would not give up his saddle, unless he really had to, as his saddle would be his most expensive possession. One could buy a horse anywhere there is a Ranch or stables, but not so a saddle. This situation has been gravely misinterpreted like so many other situations in the Prisoner. In this case, simply to suite peoples religious beliefs.
Be seeing you.
