The Prisoner - A Rebel?

It has been suggested that the Prisoner-No.6 is a rebel. Well certainly he rebelled against his confinement in the village, well who wouldn't? But further, it was suggested that because he resigned, that made the Prisoner a rebel in his other life, prior to his abduction to the village. But the Prisoner was part of the Establishment. He lived in a large house. He was engaged to Janet Portland, the daughter of Sir Chalres Portland, head of the department for whom the Prisoner worked. The Prisoner was dedicated to his work, and his loyalty was unquestionable. He even enjoyed Sir Charles company at his club. Just because a man resigns his job doesn't make him a rebel.
