It's Inexplicable!
It has always been something of a puzzlement to me, why a doctor, even an old quack like this one in Arrival, has to feed his diagnosis into a computer, then wait for the computer to give the result of any such diagnosis, to pronounce the patient to be absolutely fit. More than that, how could the doctor actually read a computer print out card in the first place!
So, there was no mention of why the patient gave up sugar on previous medical advice then? Apprently not! Mind you, it was hadly a very thorough medical examination carried out on the Prisoner, the doctor only listened to his heartbeat! BCNU.
