Thought for The Day

In A B & C No.2 told the doctor-No.14, that he hadn't got a week when she informed him that her new drug hadn't even been tested on animals yet, that she would need all of a week, that he had only three days to acquire the reason behind the Prisoner's resignation.
I wonder if the reason why No.2 has been given only three days, is becasue his term of office is running out, that he quite literally has only three days left. That might explain the headline of The Tally Ho 'Is No.2 Fit For Further Term?' True, No.2 does have a stomach ulcer, hence the drinking of milk. But if No.2's term of office was not coming to an end, why should the Tally Ho be asking the question?
Another reason why No.2 has only three days, might be because No.2 has spent so much time researching, and computing the Prisoner's whole life, to discover that it all boils down to three people, A, B, and C, that there is so little time left, in order to extract the required information!        BCNU
