Teabreak Teaser

Why is it that Number 6 declines to dunk Number 14 into the tank of water, when he sees two other Kosho sportsmen turn up?

  1. Perhaps No.6 felt he'd "made his point" in the kosho game and was showing some mercy.
Or perhaps he just didn't want to get splashed!

  2. Hi ZM72,

Perhaps so. It's strange is it not, that quite obviously the bout of Kosho was filmed for 'Hammer Into Anvil,' because Basil Hoskins is McGoohan's opponant, yet most of the film of that bout is actually used for the follwong episode 'It's Your Funeral' which Basil Hoskins isn't in!

  3. I've always had the impression that it was something to do with the rules.

    1. Hi Steve,

Are these the same rules in Slade Prison in 'Porridge? Don't write on the toilet walls, and obey all the rules, as Mister MacKay would have it.

  4. To quote Number 6 from a different episode

"Has anyone ever seen these rules?" !

It might be fun trying to derive the rules of kosho from the bits we've seen in "The Prisoner", or it might be very confusing

    1. Hello ZM72,

They might be those un-written rules we hear so much about, so in that case no-one will have seen them.
I wonder if McGoohan, when he came up with the idea of Kosho, he derived any rules, I doubt it somehow, that just might have been a step too far.
Wouldn't Kosho make an excellent Olympic sport, I've often thought so myself.
