Teabreak Teaser

Why is it that in the entire series, that  Number Two played by Colin Gordon and Patrick Cragill, are the only actors who are forced to use this ridiciulous telephone to report to Number One?

  1. The No.2s who had this phone weren't exactly brilliant 2s, perhaps it's the Village's version of the dunce's cap.
Then again, perhaps these 2s were absent minded and lost things occassionally. The big phones are hard to mis-place

    1. Hello ZM72,

Yes, a good comment. He wouldn't be able to lose a phone that big. Remember what the first mobile phones were like? They were the size of bricks!

  2. Furthermore, miniaturisation of electronic compnents wasn't as advanced in the '60s as it is now. Maybe these phones had greater capabilities than the standard phones: and were doing more things.

    1. Hi ZM72,

Judging by ther size of that telephone, it's more likely it ran on the old 'valve' system!

      Kind Regards

  3. The big phone demonstrates how small and unimportant a role this subordinate man has. This is also displayed the way Colin Gordon acts. - BCNU! - nr6de

    1. Hello Arno,

Don't forget Patrick Cargill also has to use this telephone. The fact that only two actors do is strange, because in the series it seems as though more do!
