The Therapy Zone

All The Fun Of The Village

There are those who come here who are destined to be either prisoner's or warders. Those who will in time, join the enemy against ourselves, and those who will not conform, not accept the village, nor try to settle down. It is these who will inevitably have the hardest time in the village, most likely at the hands of either No.2 and his or her interrogation techniques. Or worst of all at the hands of one of the doctors like No.40 of ‘Dance of the Dead’ who loves nothing better than to experiment, especially those like Roland Walter Dutton who he sees as being rather difficult, but who is reluctant to go any further, but who has actually told him all he knows, not having access to the vital information.
And then there are those who like to do nothing but lounge about in deckchairs either on the quayside or even down on the beach. Girls wearing either swimsuits costumes or bikini's, sunbathing, swimming in the outdoor swimming pool or lido. Or running about on the beach enjoying themselves playing beach ball, and this is no more evident than during the episode of ‘Checkmate.’ There's even a kiosk selling everything you need for the beach, from buckets and spades to rubber lilos, to plastic boats, beach balls, flags to put on top of your sandcastle. Such is the holiday camp atmosphere which ‘Checkmate’ appears to engender, there are even a small number of changing tents set out on the beach, together with a small sail boat! So perhaps sailing might even be an activity permitted for the trusted few, just as water skiing is for No.6.
But having said that, those girls in swimsuits and bikini's enjoying themselves down on the beach and in the swimming pool could so easily be those who actually work in the village, those off shift for example, having a good time before their shift begins and who could blame them. As No.6 once said "Everybody seems to be having a good time outside." No No.6, not quite everybody, but certainly the opportunity to do so is there.

Be seeing you
