We can never know, but I wonder what might have happened if No.6 had been able to transmit the Professor's message to his students through their television sets? Destroy the General? It may have turned the students into a baying mob, sturred up enough to tear anything apart. Just in the same way as the people were turned into a screaming mog in 'Dance of the Dead' baying for No.6's blood. Or indeed the lynch mob in 'Living In Harmony.
Perhaps there would have been a mob uprising against the General, and Speedlearn, after all you witnessed what the "mob" did when they thought they were to lose their Professor - they chased him down on the beach, and manhandled him back to The Village!
