Village In A Matchbox

I don't know what kind of person would wish to collect such a cleverly painted image such as this in a matchbox, but I read this morning that Johnny Prisoner, a friend of mine, actually purchased two of these "Village in a Matchbox," so that probably answers that one.
For myself, I never had the compulsion to purchase a matchbox with Portmeirion "micro-painted" inside, together with No.6 and the Village Guardian in 3D effect, no matter how clever the idea was at the time, although I did know the person who produced this item. Village In A Matchbox was sold in Portmeiron between 1998 and 2001 - for the princely sum of £9.98.

Be seeing you
