Pictorial PRIS6NER

"Much is made of chess in the original series of 'the Prisoner.' Yet chess has a great sort of formality, a sense of order and logic. This to the point when you think someone is pulling the strings when you see a chessboard large enough for people to stand on. The chessboard seen in the two picture above, is a reflection of the same dream, but many years later, and now forgotten in the mists of time. If you can slip something in, but which isn't part of the story, but is a rememberence of the original series, that can't be a bad thing" this according to set designer Michael Pickwoad.
The glass coffin with it's brown and white plumes makes it look like it would be more at home in Renaissance Venice, certainly it has a Venetian look and feel. But is actually based on that of Lenin's as he lay in state, as 11-12 lies in state at this time. So there you have it, somewhere between Russia and Venice, yet based on something quite real.

Be seeing you
