A Favourite Scene In The Prisoner


    That of the Butler replacing the white Queen's Pawn back on the chessboard. I've always thought it suggestive that he is in control of the game against No.6.
  However there are some pieces who were not replaced on the board, No.19 the shopkeeper for one!

  1. Obviously because No. 6 is the most important "figure" here. Of course this final sequence is very symbolic overall. - BCNU!

      That's quite right. I wonder what they did with No.8 {white Queen}? We do not see her again either. And very symbolic as you say, seeing that most in the Village are pawns in the game, to be used at will, and if necessary sacrificed for the sake of others.
