John Drake's Gadgets Of The Week

This gadget is taken from the episode of ‘Not So Jolly Roger,’ and is a set of cut skeleton keys which Drake employs to open the locked door in the studio of the pirate station. Other such implements used by Drake to unlock doors have been a set of specialised skeleton keys, as pictured here.

Then again another such gadget used to open locked doors, I forget which Danger Man episode this was, but this time Drake employed a set of "spark plug feeler gauges!"
Such is the ingenious and clever way in which Patrick McGoohan uses his hands, in the action of make believe, to make the viewer believe such mundane items such as Allen keys and a set of spark plug feelers gauges, could be something else other than everyday objects.
In fact later, in the episode of Not So Jolly Roger, when Drake is tied up in the generator room, and having cut the rope that ties his wrists on the belt of the said generator, Drake employs a make-do gadget. A "Wing-nut", as the one pictured below, unscrewed from the top of the generators radiator!
This Drake employs as a make-do screwdriver, to unscrew the screws of the mortis lock of the generator door, so that he can disassemble the lock and escape the room. Observe the thickness of the "wings" of this nut. It would be quite impossible to use this to unscrew any screw, unless the "wings" are filed to a thin edge, and even then....... But in McGoohan's clever hands, he makes using a "wing nut" in this manner, and any other such device look plausible.

I'm Obliged
