Quote For The Day

    "The atmosphere is very different here, from what it was elsewhere."
                                                      {NO.6 - 'The Schizoid Man'}

    This sentence has always been something of a puzzlement for me, I have never understood it. Although it's simple enough, No.6 seems to be comparing the atmosphere of the Village to elsewhere. But why say it when confronted by the two bully boys or Guardians that evening in 'The Schizoid Man?' Perhaps it was simply something to say, and yet it does sound as though there is more to it than that, like being a recognition phrase as used by spies and secret agents.

  1. Hi David,
    maybe he wanted to convince them that he wasn't a local resident, but Curtis, who was brought there only as a temporary visitor?

    Kind regards,
    Jana

    1. Hello Jana,

      I hadn't thought of that, silly of me. Yes, I like it. And it's like I always say, the simplist explanations are often the best.

      Kind regards
      David
