Why is Nadia so keen to hear the chimes of Big Ben?
I think it is because those Chimes are something No6 assosiates with (what he supposes to be) his real home. In this case Nadia could have chosen this example to gain confidence..
I think you are right, the chimes of Big Ben are an iconic part of London. When you hear them you know where you are, at least that's what No.6 must have thought when he thought he was in the Colonel's office!
