Who Do You Represent?

Who are the members of the Assembly? Certainly the individual members stand for different aspects of Society as noted here.

ACCOMMODATION    NUTRITION    BOARD    ADMINISTRATION    PRAGMATISTS
ARCHANGELS    GOVERN    OBSERVERS    HEALTH    SECURITY    REHABILITATION
EDUCATION    OLD FOLK    UNMUTUALS    UNITARIANS    COMMITTEE    TRANSPORTATION    IDENTIFICATION    DEFECTORS    THERAPY    REACTIONISTS    NATIONALISTS    ENTERTAINMENT    RECREATION    ACTIVISTS    ANARCHISTS    YOUNGSTERS    PACIFISTS    WELFARE

So who does the Assemly represent? Society? But which society, that of the Village, or
the society of the wider world in which we all live? If the latter, then why are they in the
Village? And if the former what is it that sets these persons apart from ordinary citizens of
the Village?

  1. What would archangels be doing in the Village? Where did they come from? Were they creatures from outer space? Was Rover something that they had brought to Earth? Could it be they were attempting to battle evil here on Earth thereby utilising humans as their surrogates? Are we facing completely new depths of explanation? Ever more questions arising... - BCNU!

    1. Hello Arno,

      Archangel;
      1. A high-ranking angel.
      2. Archangels: The eighth of the nine orders of angels in medieval angelology.

Perhaps the Archangels were looking after Number 1! But on the otherhand doesn't the devil look after his own? This fits in with your suggestion of a battle to fight evil here on Earth!

How the Archangels got there I cannot say, but I like the idea that they brought Rover with them.

Your comment was very cleverly devised, and I enjoyed reading it immensely, and Morag was quite taken about it, to discover that Archangels were in the Village!

"Are we facing completely new depths of explanation? Ever more questions arising.." Perhaps!

      Kind regards
      David

    2. Me too, David. I never realised exactly which and how many of those labels there were. My guess would be it's kind of a joke committed by the studio apprentice after a long day of preparing the props and among other tasks finding descriptions for those labels.

But arguably there is a battle between the good and evil forces or, to put it more scientifically, a dualism symbolised by the b/w masks with their mouth corners pointing up and down simultaneously and, of course, No. 6 and his evil twin. - BCNU!
