Caught On Caught On Camera!

  Here we see Pat McGoohan with the first first camera unit, filming a scene for Checkmate. Pat Mcgoohan didn't want the location of the Village revealed until the final episode. However he had left clues along the way. The Portmeirion pottery mark seen on the bottom of the cup which he poured tea from into the vase in 'A Change of Mind.' Portmeirion Road as part of the address on the envelope in 'Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling.' But what about the people who stand watching the filming in Portmeirion at the time, such as the people standing on the sea wall looking on? They must have had some idea of what was going on, even if nothing about 'the Prisoner.' People staying at Portmeirion in September of 1966, or visiting the Italianate Village for the day, they could not have failed to have recongnised Pat McGoohan, seeing as he had become a household name as 'Danger Man' John Drake. They must have gone home and told people what they had seen at Portmeirion. Indeed many took photographs, and some filmed the proceedings!
