A favourite Scene in The Prisoner

When the Prisner takes his first tentative steps in the Village.
It must have come as quite a shock to him. And we get the first taste of the surreal as when the Prisoner looks up and sees a man looking down at him. But even when the Prisoner has climbed the Bell Tower, all he comes face to face with is a statue. The man has gone, almost as though he was never there in the first place!
What no telephone at the cafe? But there's a phone box round the corner, and the Prisoner is in no mood for breakfast!
Unable to make a telephone call, because he hasn't got a number, the Prisoner turns his attention to the electronic Free Information board. Having studied the Map of the Village, and having perused the control pannel, the Prisoner presses the TAXI button. Within seconds we experience the second surreal moment in this scene, as instantly a taxi pulls up and the Oriental driver asks "Where to sir?" And I am led into another favourite scene, the taxi ride through the Village.

Be seeing you

  1. Don't forget, the taxi driver speaks French first, "Où désirez-vous allez?" Thus for a moment leaving No. 6, still without a "name", a stranger in a strange land. - BCNU!

    1. Hello Arno,

I had! Thank you for reminding me. A stranger in a strange land indeed, nicely put.

      Very kind regards
