Thought For The Day

    Who is Number one? That question has been asked, not since the dawn of time, but certinly since the dawn of 'the Prisoner.' In the Village Number Six appears to be the only citizen in the Village who concerns himself with the identity of Number One. What's more he still persists asking who Number One is, even after being told during the opening sequence, depending on where Number Two places the emphasis of course.
    So it turned out, symbolically and allegorically speaking, that Number Six had been Number One all the time. Although over the years it has been suggested that the Butler was Number One, and I suggested that Curtis of 'The Schizoid Man' didn't die, that he was resusciated in the same way as Number Two in 'Fall Out,' with Curtis being used a second time to face Number Six with himself in a final attempt to break him. Or, that the Delegates of the Assembly are a "collective One" who work together for the good of the community, for society. And yet, perhaps Number One is of a special nature, whose needs are unknown, but perhaps exists in the ideas of those who believe in him.
