Thought For The Day

Seeing as how No.1 is the ultimate authority in the Village, the boss for arguments sake, and No.2 is second to one, placing the Prisoner as No.6 must surely mean that they rate him pretty highly. So much so that No.2 once made the suggestion that the Prisoner-No.6 could be given a position of authority. No.2 told the doctor that No.6 has a future with them, and at the suggestion that a leucotomy operation be carried out on No.6, No.2 said that No.6 is far too important. Well if No.6 is important, what about No's. 3, 4 and 5? Mind you No.6 did claim to be 5, 5, 5 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 that's me, although that might have had something to do with his age at the time!
So 2 is second to 1, 3 would be second to 2, perhaps the Supervisor would have been better numbered as 3, that would have made the Supervisor second to 2 in the order of rank. There being no actual No.7 in the Village, that's like it used to be in bygone times when hotels didn't have a room 13, seeing 13 as an unlucky number. Mind you just because we do not see No.7 doesn't really mean 7 doesn't exist in the Village, after all we do not see 3, 4, or 5 those along with other numbers we do not see, but which common sense must dictate they are there in the Village somewhere!

Be seeing you

  1. A new Prisoner production, released next year, reveals both why 6 and why no 7. Remember you heard it here first. But no more than that today.

  2. I'm curious, too! About the production details and sources as well as about the production itself and the answers found.

Regarding Numbers 3, 4 or 5, I've wondered if the Butler could be one of them, maybe even 5, 6 without 1..? Would be telling. And I agree, Number 3 would have been an appropriate Number for the Supervisor.

What I find interesting, too, is that Number 6 theoretically holds the highest position after Number 2 if there is no Number between them.. If one wants to take the numbers as indicators for status in the village.

    Best wishes,
    Jana
