It is one of my theories about the Village Guardian that in the original series, the Guardian represents ones own fears. So when you see the Prisoner-No.6 stands up to the Village Guardian during his first escape attempt on the beach in 'Arrival', it could be said that the Priosner is facing his own fears.
Above is Six, Six has conjured up the Village Gaurdian in his subconscious, his own fear that he cannot seem to face up to. His fear that keeps him a prisoner in the Village.
