The Therapy Zone

Believe it or not, that this is the only occasion in which anyone in the Village, is seen to show their identity card to anyone in the entire series of ‘the Prisoner.’ This one occasion takes place in the episode of ‘The General,’ as No.2 flashes his identity card to a security guard as he is about to enter the General's office.

THEPRIS6NER
The Village Shop, where originally the Shopkeeper only sold maps of the Village. That's why the shopkeeper was always keen to sell his customer maps of the Village, "buy one, get one free. Makes the perfect gift!" But that would have been rather dull, so the set was dressed with a variety of items, and upon which The Village Map was printed, on cups and saucers, plates and trays. Aprons, mugs, tea pots, and 'T' shirts, in that way you always know where you are in the Village!
The map itself is loosely based on the street plan of the city of Oxford, in the county of Oxfordshire, and was drawn by Michael Pickwoad over several weeks. Its a very childish map, which doesn't actually tell you anything, because in the Village you're not supposed to know anything!
The "old man - 93" according to Michael Pickwoad - Production Designer on THEPRIS6NER, is a representation of the former No.6, and he should know from having worked on the series. But I was well convinced of that fact as soon as I saw him in the clips advertising the series, judging by his look, and dress, 93 couldn't have been anyone else. But its always nice to have ones ideas and theories confirmed by someone who knows.

A Village Observation
Speedlearn has a flaw, it is dependent on students being in front of a television screen, so that they can be taught subliminally. Speedlearn gives the students the answer to questions without any explanation of "why," and that's why "why" doesn't matter.

The doctor in Arrival who carries out a medical examination on the Prisoner. He seems to be to be just another quack. I mean he even has to type in the diagnosis of the patient into a computer, and wait a few moments before getting the result, and pronouncing that the Prisoner is "Absolutely fit." But there's just one thing I don't understand.....how is it possible for the doctor to read a computer print-out card?

Checkmate!
Is something of a clever little episode, an episode which has four clear meanings.
A} The obvious reference to the game of chess.
B} No.6 loses the game, ie he is checkmated at the end game.
C} The white Queen is hypnotised into thinking that she is in love with No.6, and he with her. And by this means a possible mate, and the Village Administration gains a way of maintaining a check on No.6.
D} And by the title of the story No.6 has the check out his reliable men {mates} in the village, and those who are not!

Be seeing you
