Putting Number Six To The Test!

Amongst so many other things, ‘the Prisoner’ is a series of tests designed to test the metal of Number Six, who having survived the ultimate test set him in the Embryo Room of ‘Once Upon A Time,’ number Six had earned the right to meet Number 1. And yet in the 17th episode, ‘Fall Out,’ one could say that the manipulation of No.6 went on, and which culminated in his meeting with himself, a card which had been played before, but was worth trying a second time!
In those sixteen specific tests No.6 demonstrated such qualities as:
A sense of humour
Strength of character
Determination
Resolve
Unbendability
Proving he can endure most things, both physically and mentally
He is a survivor
A sense of identity
He cared about those in the Village {once anyway}
Artistic ability
Loyalty
Ingenuity
He demonstrated how he can live by his wits
The ability to navigate
Fly a helicopter
Make a homemade compass
Survival
Individuality
Cleverness
Trustworthiness - in some people
Suspicion
Friendship
Abilities such as building a sea-going raft, and coracle.
Making his own tools
Handy in stitch work, when he had sewn for his own private gymnasium.
His Sporting ability in the noble art of boxing, fencing, shooting, not to mention Kosho.
And yet there are certain times when Number 6 puts the Village to the test. In testing their efficiencies that night he broke curfew during ‘Dance of the Dead.’ He also tested himself against the Village Guardian, but was left on his knees in the sand!
Number 6 certainly put No.2 to the test in ‘Hammer Into Anvil,’ a weak link in the chain of command, left to report himself to Number 1. Well Number 6 couldn’t do it for obvious reasons!
So having survived all these tests, having vindicated the right of the individual to be individual, Number 6 didn’t want what the Village had to offer, he rejected!

Be seeing you
