It's Inexplicable!

"Tic tic, tic tic." Now what the devil is that supposed to mean? No.2 says it as she slaps No.6's face towards the end of 'Free For All.'

  1. Good morning David,
I used to think that she imitated the ticking that mesmerized the hypnotized Number 6 when he looked at the wall screen. It seems like a kind of waking signal, and she mocks him with this signal as he wakes up. As a symbol I would take it for "time" - In a way time slaps him in the face. In the end he looses.

    Best wishes,

  2. Hello everyone
Yes I also thought it might be to do with time - "tick tick", similar to "tick tock". A broken clock perhaps? Something to do with No. 6 saying in a previous episode that he didn't run on clockwork.
Or perhaps No.2 is trying to give No.6 a nervous tic with all that slapping!

    Be seeing you

    1. Hello ZM72,
I really like your idea! A broken clock, or Number 6 (not) running on clockwork (unless hypnotized), yes, that's very interesting.
      Very kind regards,
      Jana

  3. Hello Jana and ZM72,
That's very clever from both of you, and indeed why not.
As it happens the "Tic tic, tic tic" could very well have something to do with time, as it is interpreted in THEPRIS6NER episode of 'Checkmate,' when Two tells a sick Six that he's going to watch Six die one breath at a time. In fact "One tick of the clock at a time. Tick tick, tick tick."

Very kind regards to you both

  4. To me it's a massive reminder for No. 6 of the need to get back "into line" after the "little joke" they inflicted on him. "You've had your fun, you were allowed to turn the switches, now it's getting serious again... Must be ticking like a clock" they'd probably say. - BCNU!

    1. Hello Arno,
An interesting interpretation. I like the idea that No.6 has had his fun, and now it gets serious again. And they never damaged the tissue, just bruised it a little!

      Very kind regards
