Degree Absolute, better known by it's screening title of ‘Once Upon A Time,’ in which we learn something of why the Prisoner resigned. "For peace, for peace of mind. Because too many people know too much!" So to all intents and purposes, No.2 has been told, in fact the Prisoner said "You've been told," when No.2 asked No.6 to tell him again. So I suppose to some extent, No.2 succeeded, depending on how you measure success. The only problem is, with no surveillance in the Embryo Room, the only witness to what No.6 said, is the butler, and he’s not about to tell anyone anything. So to No.1, the week spent in the Embryo Room was a complete and utter waste of time. Because not only is No.2 dead, there being no possibility of resuscitation for No.2, but also the question remains “Why did No.6 resign?”
There is no question of No.6 having survived the “ultimate test,” because that phrase is only mentioned by the President in ‘Fall Out,’ because ‘Once Upon A Time’ is used as a prequel to ‘Fall Out.’ At best the Prisoner has survived the method of ‘Degree Absolute,’ but is angry at the death of No.2. In the library order of ‘the Prisoner,’ the next episode after ‘Degree Absolute’ is ‘The Schizoid Man,’ and so it has to continue, but this time the Prisoner-No.6 is to be broken in order to extract the reason behind his resignation.

Be seeing you
