So why is No.2 glad No.6 is there in the Village? Perhaps 2 sees 6 as a worthy opponent, someone who will offer a challenge. Or it might be that No.2 was aware of No.6 back in London, someone with a reputation whom he can now bring down a peg of two. He seems to see No.6 as a model, but a model for what? Perhaps No.6 is someone who No.2 will hope to model, eventually to see him run like clockwork in the Village!
