Badge Of Authority

The badge worn by the majority of Village citizens has been described as being a constant reminder of the authority through the canopied Penny Farthing logo or emblem, and the number is the means of identifying the citizens. Well what works one way, works another. Because if you've been stripped of your own name and identity and given a number, and forced to wear that number on a badge, at least that numbered badge gives you some kind of identity to cling on to. Look how Number 6 reacted the moment he thought he'd lost his identity of Number 6 in ‘The Schizoid Man.’ He did his utmost to prove that he was Number 6.
How some people in The Village, like Number 6, the doctor in ‘Arrival’ {although in his case it might have just fallen off his white coat, or he forgot to simply pin it on} the Butler, not to mention The Professor and Madam Professor, Number 113b and 113c, and anyone else who go about not wearing his or her badge of identity, and get away with it, is open to speculation!

Be seeing you
