"Mrs. Butterworth/Number 2 - why is the number of her badge white and not red?
I can't remember any sign that she would have been the real No. 2 in the end. So, perhaps she was actually the "vice or deputy No. 2", dispatched to London by the Village No. 2. After No. 6 had been returned (to sender) it was obviously her who had to welcome him. - BCNU!
Hello Arno, Well that's certainly an idea, and might account for the fact of the white number 2 on her "negative" badge instead of red. Poor Mrs. Butterworth, she might not have even been an interim Number 2 after all!
