‘The Prisoner’ is a struggle for Number 6
against Number 1, against himself. Both are the boss in their own way, and yet both
are prisoners too. If one adds 6 to 1 you get 7, so perhaps 7 is the whole of 6
and 1, and is in fact the boss. I wonder, if there was a 7, would it still be
interested in overpowering someone? Would it want to be the boss? Or is 7 God? 1 and 6 being both the boss, one accepts The
Village, while the other rejects.
1 is prisoner of The Village, while 6 is out
in the outside world. Perhaps 1 wants escape, and the only way to achieve that
would be have his other self brought to the Village, and by making 6 accept, to
hand it over to him. Thereby changing places with 6 who then becomes the 1,
while the former 1 takes the place of 6, finally to escape, to go out into the
world, free of The Village at last!
