the Supervisor told Number 6. Number 2 having apparently died. Whether it was
the drink or a heart attack brought on by the stress of the deliberations of
that week, is undetermined. But why would
the body of Number 2 be required as evidence?

In a way the Supervisor was right. The body was "re-used", wasn't it? Not only was it re-used it was reanimated, the personality of the former No. 2 was restored in order to put him (lke No. 48) to trial. But it can be left to debate whether it became any form evidence in the legal sense of the word. - BCNU!

DeleteInteresting comments. Perhaps they needed the body as evidence simply to prove that number 2 was actually dead! After all it did have to be either one of them to emerge victorious from the Embryo Room. Life there was lived from the cradle to the grave. Number 2 thought to dig a grave for Number 6, but ended up lying in that grave himself. The trouble is he wasn't allowed to rest in it!
