The Butler is always dressed immaculately, and
yet there is one scene in ‘the Prisoner’ in which he appears in a state of
undress! He is seen with not only his coat off, but also his shirt, as he
appears to have been giving Number 2 in ‘The Schizoid Man’ a massage. However I
have never found this scene wholly convincing, as firstly Number 2 is still
wearing his polo neck jersey, and secondly the table upon which Number 2 had
been lying upon, isn’t low enough for the Butler to administer a effective massage, as he
can barely reach up to lay hands upon Number 2!
