    Rover, so we are informed by Number 6, and which Number 2 apparently confirmed, is the name of The Village Guardian. And yet could not Number 6 have simply been using the name Rover as euphuism? Rover being the popular name for a guard dog. Which in turn would suggest that the Guardian’s name isn’t Rover at all. Yes Number 2 may well have sensed Number 6’s jibe at the Guardian by referring to it as Rover, and therefore simply joined in with Number 6. But if that was the case, then surely the question must be asked, when Number 2 gave the order for Rover to be de-activated until further notice, if Rover wasn’t the Guardians name, how would the Supervisor know what Number 2 was talking about? Unless he managed to guess Number 2’s meaning. But then of course what else would be de-activated after an orange Alert if not the membranic Village Guardian?
    Just one other thing, years ago I recall reading somewhere in a publication relating to ‘the Prisoner,’ that someone had come up with an idea of what the initial letters of R.O.V.E.R might stand for. I think I read it in an old Number Six magazine. I’ll have to see if I can find the article in question. Unless anyone reading this can come up with a meaning for R.O.V.E.R.
