Perhaps in having his own suit of clothes specially delivered for the occasion of the Ball, its not so much the Prisoner is still himself, which indeed he would still be, had ‘Dance of the Dead’ been the second episode in the series. It might not even be the case, that because he has no costume he doesn’t exist, as Number 2 said. But it could easily be that they simply felt he would feel happier as himself, in the same way as in ‘Fall Out.’ In the one instance he ends up being put on trial, and in the other he’s not exactly put on trial but exalted for who he is!
