A Favourite Scene in The Prisoner

When Number 6 is giving a televised speech.
“The community can rest assured that their interests are very much my own, and that anything I can do to maintain the security of the citizens is my primary objective. Be seeing you.”
He sounds just like a potential Number 2.  The citizens can rest assured that their interests are very much his own, whenever was that? Number 6 has always looked after number one, and his only interest has been to escape from The Village. The security of the citizens is his primary objective, now that sounds more like Number 2 talking than Number 6. But then it may be supposed that that part of the speech is due to the conditioning Number 6 undergoes throughout the election. Anyway after Number 6 stood listening to his own speech he did appear to be very pleased with himself as he saluted his image on the television screen.
Also the recorded televised speech is a demonstration of what takes place in The Village to which we, as the television viewer, are not privy.

Be seeing you
