State of Confusion!

When it comes to the episodes of ‘The Schizoid Man’ and ‘Many Happy Returns,’ because of the dates there is a question of their lapping over each other! ‘The Schizoid Man’ commenced on Feb10th after which Number 6 spent at least a month in the cottage of 12 Private busy growing a beard, and undergoing mind conditioning. So if we count forward one month from Feb 10th we arrive at the 12th or 13th of March, by which time Number 6 has been at sea aboard his raft for 20 or 21 days. Because in ‘Many Happy Returns’ Number 6 washed up on the beach at Beachy Head on March 18th, having spent 25 days at sea. If we count back 25 days from March 17th we arrive at February 21st, and that doesn’t take into account the time it would have taken Number 6 to build his sea-going raft.
To add more confusion, in between the episodes of ‘The Schizoid Man’ and ‘Many Happy Returns,’ is ‘The General.’ We see Number 6 sitting at a table outside the café enjoying a cup of coffee. While overhead the helicopter circles The Village searching for the wayward Professor. At that moment there is a public address announcement for all students taking the 3 part history course, instructing them to return to their dwellings immediately. But Number 6 isn’t a student of history, and asks the waiter for another coffee. But the waiter tells his customer that the café is closing, didn’t he hear the announcement about the Professor? But Number 6 isn’t one of his students, and pays for his coffee. The waiter reminds Number 6 that you’re never too old to learn. Number 6 asks him who told him that, the Professor? No, the General! Number 6 gives the appearance of not knowing who the Professor or General is. In fact has he heard of Speedlearn before that public announcement? If he hasn’t he has done remarkably well in avoiding the imposed educational lectures! On the other hand, perhaps the reason why Number 6 has no knowledge about the Professor, the General, or Speadlearn is because he had recently spent 25 days at sea on a voyage of discovery!
‘The Prisoner,’ in a state of confusion, well it wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t, would it?

Be seeing you
