A Favourite Scene

During ‘The Chimes of Big Ben’ outside the Recreation Hall, after the awards have been made at the Exhibition of Arts and Crafts. The Brass Band plays, and Number 2 and other citizens stand applauding two of the award winners on the steps of the Recreation Hall. Not only is Number 38 pleased with herself, in having gained an award for her tapestry, she also comes away with 2,000 free work units. There appears to be a genuine community spirit going on. People having enjoyed themselves, they are happy, it seems a joyous time, otherwise what’s it all in aid of? I like to think there are genuine times when the citizens are happy enough, and can be left to enjoy themselves. The event of the Exhibition of Arts and Crafts being one of them, and no doubt The Village Festival was another.

Be seeing you
