Nadia
told Number 6 what she wants is to hear the chimes of Big Bill, but of course
she meant Big Ben. Perhaps when she heard the chimes she knew that her
assignment, perhaps even her ordeal was finally over. However if Nadia and
Number 6 had arrived in London after today, having supposedly escaped The
Village, then she would be hard pressed to hear the chimes of Big Ben. Because
today the chimes of Big Ben will fall silent, and will remain silent for the
next four years until 2021 in order that important repair work be carried out.
The chimes will continue to be rung on important dates such as New Years Eve,
and the clock will continue to tell the time, only silently.
