That was very kind of Number 8 to make
Number 6 his nightcap for him, and the fool drank it! What I mean to say is,
the maid usually comes to make Number 6 his nightcap of hot chocolate, she
probably carries out that duty for several people before curfew. Each night the
hot chocolate is drugged of course with a strong sleeping draught or sedative,
that’s why one night in ‘Dance of the Dead’ Number 6 couldn’t sleep, he hadn’t
drank his nightcap! But here Number 8 wasn’t to blame, she didn’t knowingly
drug the cup of hot chocolate, the drug is in the tap water, and Number 6 must
have figured that one out that time he collapsed after taking one sip of water
from the tap. So why drink his night cap this time? Perhaps to sleep, perchance
to dream!
