Soon after Number 6
wakes up in a strange apartment the telephone begins to bleep, its Number 2
calling to invite Number 6 to breakfast. During a working breakfast in which
time no-one eats anything {you’d think Number 6 would be tucking into those
pancakes seeing as he’d been conditioned to eat pancakes on sight} Number 6
12 is briefed about his assignment whilst in The Village. Number 12’s job is to
impersonate Number 6, to take away his sense of reality. But that must surely
have seemed like déjà vu, seeing as it was the second time Number 2 would have
enacted the scene. The first time was with the real Number 12-Curtis soon after
his arrival in The Village between 4 and 6 weeks earlier!
