I like the way the President offered
No.6 ultimate power, to lead them or go. Had things not turned out the way they
did, no doubt the President was going to usurp No.1 with his twin No.6, that
might have been the plan all along. No.1 the worst of man, so why not replace
him with a man of a different calibre, a better man, moral man, to make a
better Village! But the mistake was No.6 saw his future, and rejected it when
he let the crystal ball slip from his hands. His future as a Prisoner, because
he wouldn’t accept what he was. Two halves of the same person are brought
together, on a physical level it makes one wonder how they became separated in
the first place. Perhaps the scientists in The Village did it, and they put the
wrong one on the throne, whilst the other was like Philippe, locked away but
without being forced to wear an iron mask!
