    Patrick McGoohan said he had no idea who Number 1 is, so he made himself Number 1. It’s a great pity script editor George Markstien had long left working on the production of the series. Why? Because he could have been Number 1, he could have revived his role as the man sat behind the desk, as he might have been in both ‘Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling,’ and ‘Living In Harmony’ as the Marshal. After all it all began with the bureaucrat when ZM73 handed in his letter to that man. In ‘Fall Out’ Number 6 could have gone into the Control Room of the rocket only to find that same man sat there behind an oak desk, and he could have been Number 1 all the time!
