    How self-sufficient is the Village? Not very I shouldn't wonder, oh there are cows in the field next to the hospital, so that means there is a farm, and that's where the milk, eggs, cheese, butter, and the potatoes come from. Patrick McGoohan described the Village as having a sewage plant, and electric power station, but what about a canning factory for the cans of Village Food. And then there's the jars of Village Cooking oil, rolls of Village 35mm film, oh and lets not forget the Village's own record label! There are from time to time "special Imports" such as Cuckcoo Clocks, and luxury goods like cameras for sale in the General Store. But much of which is produced for the Village must be produced in the outside world - surely.

Heroes And Villains

   There is no doubt that No.2 is a very charming man. He is also a very clever man, as he could see that the wrong approach was being used during The Chimes of Big Ben, and is not afraid to speak his mind, he like No.6 is not an inmate! Although it could be said, and has been said, that No.2 is just as much a prisoner as No.6!
    This is one No.2 who actually strikes up a genuine rapport with No.6, he even begins to like him.
    No.2 was once like No.6, a prisoner, but someone who resisited for so short a time, well each man has his breaking point, and No.2 must have reached his sooner than most!
    It is to his own amusement to watch No.6 carrying out the construction of the parts for his boat, knowing full well what No.6 is doing, having been kept informed by No.8! He must have admired No.6 for his quick thinking as how to explain his abstract sculpture at the 'Arts & Crafts Exhibition.'
    Although No.2 is Chairman of the Village, there is really nothing truly villianous about him. And of course in the end he comes good in the revolution against the Village. But I could never understand why the 'late' No.2 should be accused of biting the hand that feeds him. No.2 has always appeared to be a loyal participant in the Village. He even saw it as a blueprint for the future 'the whole earth as the Village - that is my dream.' what's more No.2 was prepared to give his own life for the cause, as in Once Upon A Time it had to either one of them. No.2 was a good man, is a good man, but if they get No.6, he will be better, in No.2's eyes at any rate!

'Is No.2 Fit For Further Term?'

    Well that's the headline The Tally Ho newspaper runs with in A B & C. Not only is No.2 under pressure to gain results in just three days, but he is suffering from a stomach ulcer at the same time, hence the newspaper headline, and why No.2 is a milk drinker. But obviously he was, because this No.2 was brought back for a second term in The General, unless of course The General could follow straight on after A B & C, being the next episode.
   Over the years within the annals of Prisoner appreciation, there has been the question of which episode came first A B & C or The General? In my opinion it is as it is, as it should be, that A B & C predates The General, otherwise why should No.2 tell Madam Professor in The General that he and No.6 are old friends?   Be seeing you.

Caught On Camera

    This is a scene from Free For All, what is going on I have no idea, and the only interpretation I can put on it is that the four men are perhaps undergoing some strange indoctorination of some kind, in the picture on the right the Village Guardian is pulsating with light! But I think the real conundrum is the cave itself. I mean as No.6 comes to his senses in No.2's office, the interior wall of the Green Dome revolves to reveal a single steel door, which opens into this cave, and into which No.6 stumbles. And the conundrum? Just where is this cave stituated outside the Green Dome?   Be seeing you.

Thought For The Day

    I wonder how the Butler took to Martha, Mrs Butterworth's maid arriving in the Village and taking over the running of No.2's residence? Probably with his non-aggressive compliance no doubt, and was probably glad to be out of it. Because I'm sure Martha would not have taken to the Butler at all, and would soon have imposed her will on the day to day running of her mistresses new home in the Village. Well Mrs Butterworth would want her own house maid looking after her, not a Butler. So for a time our diminuitive friend would be out of a job.
    The Butler was also out of a job again when No.2 in Hammer Into Anvil turned on him, and told him to get out of the house. The Butler took that on the chin as well, and would have done quite literally, if No.2 had not restrained himself at this point. Again the Butler showed unquestioning compliance, and I have to say he cut something of a sad figure as he departed the Green Dome, coat and suitcase in hand. But no doubt he knew that he would return to his job at some point, when his new master eventually arrived, as surely he must, now that his current master had completely lost the plot!   Be seeing you.

Prisoneresque Or What?

    Dark clouds gather, yet there is no clash of thunder. A blue and white open topped Nissan Figaro is being driven through the streets of London. the driver stops outside a newsagents, newspapers are placed on the passenger seat and the car moves off again, moving smoothly along the roads, across Vauxhall bridge, passed the Houses of Parliarment, then driving into an underground car park.    Entering a building, BBC Sunday AM presenter Andrew Marr, walks along with a girmmace look of determination on his face. He enters a BBC newsroom, where he acknowledgs a colleague with a hand salute. The steel doors of a lift open, Andrew Marr enters the lift, he presses a buton and the steel doors close as the steel bars across the Prisoner's face! Prisoneresque or what?
