When the Prisoner enters the General Store on the morning of his arrival in the village, the shopkeeper-No.99, who has been speaking in some incomprehensible language to his female customer, suddenly stops and begins speaking to her in English Would you mind helping yourself to a pineapple madam?
As the Prisoner slowly makes his way through the village on the morning of his arrival, he passes a sign 'Walk on the grass,' shouldn't that be 'Don't walk on the grass?' Well it would be, but this is the village, and a possible way of showing one's defiance by walking on the grass!
The pool and fountain in the central Piazza, also has a sign it reads 'Free Sea,' what's that all about, I've never been able to work that one out. It's just part of the quirkiness that helps make the Prisoner what it is.
