In 'Checkmate,' as the Village Guardian comes rolling and bounding along the street, pedestrians step to the side of the road, cyclists dismount their bycicles and everyone is absolutely still as the Guardian passes by. Save for Number 14 {the chess champion} why doesn't the Guardian attack him, in the same way it did in 'Arrival' when that young man was runnng about after the order from Number 2 to "Be still?"
