Hold It!

This is me, the picture was taken at a 'Prisoner' Convention back in 1997 when I was taking part in a re-enactment from 'A B and C' that of Engadine's party. As the Prisoner, I had to learn all the script, a no mean task I can tell you. And what's more I was word perfect, one fellow actor as 'A' wasn't. In fact he was making his lines up as he went, and I had to fit my lines in as best i could. In a rehearsal of the re-enactment he said "You've been practising!"  well I always liked to be as professional as I could be, and that goes for my wife Morag who helped me learn my lines, and who played 'B' in the re-enactment.
Me again, this time on the chessboard as No.6, in a re-enactment from 'Checkmate.' Okay, the cape is on the wrong shoulder! And every year I took part as No.6, the sun was always in my eyes, so that I was often squinting as I looked out across the board!
This picture was recently sent to me by a friend who lives in France, who thought I might like to see it, which was kind.

  1. It's funny that they have you playing McGoohan in these things when it's Kenneth Griffith that you are a dead ringer for. You really should have turned up in Napoleon or a judge's gear!

    1. Hello Mr. X,

As they say, Kenneth Griffith and beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

As it happens at one convention I was wearing the exact same style of suit as the Prisoner wears in the series. I was standing on the steps of the Town Hall at the time, when a member of the general public appraoched me and asked "Are you Patrick McGoohan?" I had to tell his that I wasn't, and he walked away disappointed. You see there was a strong rumour going about that Patrick McGoohan was going to attend the Prisoner Convention that year in fact it had been reported in the Daily Express newspaper that he was, he didn't. In fact Patrick McGoohan, although invited to attend Conventions, he never did. Although he was Six of One's the Prisoner Appreciation Society's honorary President for many years. As far as I'm aware the society doesn't have an honorary President at the moment. If I were a member I would put the name of Earl Cameron forward for the position. After all Earl wouldn't have to do anything for the society, Patrick McGoohan never did!

      Kind regards
      David
