Thought for The Day

93, the old man the Prisoner came across in the desert, suffered Village death in a cave. The Prisoner buried the body of the old man under a dead tree, although that is what he thought. But like Cathy in 'Living In Harmony,' 93 does not lie in that makeshift grave.!
Through Village Death there is escape to that "other place," for the likes of 554, 832, and 4-15, and Michael if he was to choose death as an escape, then the "other palce" is New York. But for 93 Village death does not mean escape, he would simply return to the "other" Village, where he would remain a prisoner! I suppose it would all depend on whether or not No.6 in the Village has any memories of being 93 in the new Village. If he had, what a tale he would have to tell No.2, or indeed anyone who would listen, that there is another Village. But who would take any notice of the ravings of an old man? After all who took any notice of 93's wild tales of "another place" in the new Village?

Be seeing you

  1. This character was so insulting to Patrick McGoohan. Mind you, this whole rancid rehash was an insult to the viewers too.

    1. Hello Peter Smith,

As I understand it, the cameo role of 93 was offered to Patrick McGoohan, he turned it down, because he wanted the role of Two, but Ian MacKellen had already been cast for the part. In any case Patrick McGoohan was too ill at the time to travel and film in Namibia. However I understand that McGoohan had read the six scripts and approved of them.

You are of course entitled to you opinion. However you might be surprised to learn that there are those die-hard fans of the original series who have found value in THEPRIS6NER series, while others are slowly coming round and giving the series a second chance.

      Very kind regards
