No.2 "One lump or two?"
No.6 "It's in the file."
No.2 "Yes, as a matter of fact yes! But it would save time if you just answered!."
"Why, are you running out of time?"
                        {The Chimes of Big Ben}

Perhaps that's why No.2 of 'A B and C' had only three days to get the required result! That he had spent so much time researching and computing the Prisoner's whole life, that now he only had three days left. It might seem strange to put No.2 under so much pressure, to limit the time for the experiment. And yet this would not be the only occasion such a time limit was placed on No.2, after all No.2 of ‘Once Upon A Time’ only had a week! Unless in both cases No.1 wanted No.2 to fail. Other than that I can see no reason at all why there was any need to put a time limit on No.2 for his task in hand. After all the Prisoner-No.6 wasn’t going anywhere!

Be seeing you

  1. I can think of only one reason for the shortness of time. On a symbolic level, once make No. 6 give you his small finger you'll also have his whole hand. - BCNU!

    1. Hello Arno,
That's very good, wish I'd have thought that.

      Very kind regards

  2. Hi, from todays point of view they also might have considered that they should get and sell his information as long as it's valid and worth a deal on the open market.

    1. Hello Jana,
If No.6 was going to sell out, the Administration behind the Village, could have saved themselves a great deal of time and trouble, if they themselves had bought the information. Mind you even if they had, what might they have done with it? Simply to file it away in one of their grey filing cabinets seen during the opening sequence!

      Very kind regards

    2. Hello David,
haha, yes, I guess you are right, this would certainly have saved some time and trouble.
Regarding those filing cabinets, nowadays they'd have to grow infinitely.. I wonder how long they'd store the information in there.
      Best wishes,

  3. I'm afraid the storage would rather not be one of the grey filing cabinets but look a bit like this, familiar of Raiders Of the Lost Ark:

  4. Oh yes! Presumably leading to a situation similar to the one in BRAZIL. Sometimes I think that the primary goal of information retrieval is to get information about where to retrieve more information. How is this snake called that feeds itself by itself?

    Best wishes,

  5. What we call self-contained bureaucracy. But what about this: "The information in your head is priceless." Perhaps that's why it would be stored away, nobody would pay for it...- BCNU!

  6. Hello Arno and Jana,
I like the idea that the information storage area would be like the one in "AREA 51" the the Indiana Jones "Raiders" films. And that of the snake that feeds itself by itself. And yet, all that information gathered by the Village Administration, surely it must be approaching the time when all such information is de-classified, and that includes the Prisoner's letter of resignation, and then finally, we shall learn the reason behind that resignation!

Very kind regards to you both
