Many Happy Returns!
I wonder if the 49th anniversary
of the filming of ‘the Prisoner’ isn’t more important that that of the
screening of the series? After all here in Britain {1967-68} not everyone watched ‘the
Prisoner’ at the same time, this was due to ITV’s regional television network.
For example ‘Arrival’ was screened in two regions on September 29th
1967, and yet in other areas not until1st, 5th, 6th,
19th and even as late as the 27th of October. And then in
1968 when ‘Fall Out’ was eventually screened in the ITV region on Granada
television on March 1st, the rest of the country had already seen
the conclusion to the series which was screened on February 1st, 2nd,
4th, 9th, and 10th. So next year will be the
49th anniversary of the screening of ‘the Prisoner’ here in Britain for those who first watched ‘Arrival’
on September 29th 1967, but not for those who began watching
the series until a few days later. I suppose it’s the year that really matters
in the case of the anniversary of screening of ‘the Prisoner,’ but for many
fans that anniversary falls on a number of different dates!
