The
original script for ‘Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling’ has the original spelling
of Saltzman, this name was later changed to Seltzman. I have sometimes wondered
what brought about the change. It wasn’t until I watched the episode as part of
a screening of the series to celebrate the 50th anniversary, that I
hit upon a possible reason. There would have been two ‘A’s in the name! When
ZM73 had written out the name SELTZMAN on a sheet of paper, counting out the
letters in the alphabet, and then placing a slide of that number to each
corresponding letter, for example ‘A’ equalling 1. The change might have
stemmed from the fact that there couldn’t be two ‘A’s because there couldn’t
have been two slides numbered 1.
